1953: Marilyn on the set of Niagara, photograph taken by her friend and trusted make-up artist Allan ‘Whitey’ Snyder. The pair met when Marilyn had her first screen test at 20th Century Fox in 1946 and continued to work together on every film and assignment Marilyn was given for the duration of her career. Marilyn is said to have asked Whitey to promise that, if she died before him, he would do her make-up for her funeral. Whitey agreed and this came true in 1962, when, with the help of a bottle of gin, styled his friend one more time.
